Pickwick “Ascension” video premieres at Under the Radar

SEATTLE, WA – Small Press Records is happy to announce that the video for “Ascension” from new Pickwick long player LoveJoys (out now) has premiered at Under the Radar. A North American tour in support of the release begins 7.27 in Bellingham, WA. Find ascension right here:

A seamless sound-world of old soul, new blood, sleek pop, slow jams, electro-funk and fearless exploration.” – Paste – 8.1

Pickwick are one of America’s best bands.” – John Richards / KEXP

Lovejoys shimmers and beckons like a mirage, pairing the psychedelic soul with complex, of-the-moment rock and woozy pop.” – City Arts

A shimmering, cinematic funkfest.” – East of 8th

Shined up Space Soul.” – Three Imaginary Girls

Listen to LoveJoys and you’ll hear a band that has pushed aside external pressures and expectations, overcome internal demons, and plugged directly into their own creative center. Hypnotically intricate, just-right sonic ornamentation shimmers around a thick, undulating bed of propulsive rhythm.

Following the breakout success of 2013’s Can’t Talk Medicine the band found themselves deeply unsatisfied with the direction their new work was taking. Starting again from scratch, the band turned to producer Erik Blood (Shabazz Palaces, Tacocat and Moondoggies) for guidance in putting their reborn creativity to tape.
